VLC Player Remote Control using iTouch 4 iPhone
Recently while looking for VLC player for iTouch 4 , i found this amazing app which can control VLC player on your computer [ windows | mac ] using your iPod touch 4. I tried and installed the free version of the app [full version $4.99]. I must tell its a cool apps with lots of nifty features to try out . You can forward , rewind a movie from your iPod touch without having to move your hand to the mouse all the time .
For using VLC remote you have to first download the VLC setup file from the developers site and install it on your computer [windows or mac] before you can pair your iPod with your PC. It’s a 1.2 MB file that can be downloaded from hobbyistsoftware.com/vlc .
Download and install VLC Remote [free version] from Apple App Store on your Ipod Touch 4 or iPhone. Goto settings and add your computer.
When you add your computer , remember to manually put the following settings when asked. That is the computer name and mac address as shown in the picture below.
After you device is connected its is ready to be used by your iPod touch 4 as a remote control to your PC / MAC . The free version was a little irritating with the ads and occasional reminders to buy the full version of the app, buts it’s a good way ti try out the app before you buy it.
